Ten police vehicles have been deployed to a major incident at a travel agent in Merseyside.Two air ambulances were sent to the incident at a TUI branch in Chapel Street, Southport, where a woman has been taken to hospital.Her condition is unknown but a a cordon has been erected around the business and a man has been detained.Police say the incident is 'ongoing', according to the Liverpool Echo.A statement from the police said: 'Merseyside Police can confirm officers are currently at the scene of an incident in Southport.'Officers were contacted at 1.25pm today, Saturday 13th January, following reports of concern for a female at a shop on Chapel Street.'A female has been taken to hospital.'A male has been detained at the scene.Twitter user Luke Chandley reported there are about 10 police vehicles as well as an ambulance at the scene.He wrote: 'Mad stuff going down in Southport. About 10 police vehicles, one van backed in to Thompson’s. An ambulance too. What a mad day."Video footage shows huge crowds gathering around the cordon, set up on one of the busiest shopping streets in the town centre.A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust confirmed to Mirror Online that a female had been taken to hospital.He said: 'We got a call at 1.27pm to Chapel Street and we have sent numerous resources, including two air ambulances, a land ambulance and a couple of our advance paramedics.'One patient was taken to Southport Hospital.'
